In 2011, B&T started developing a modern replacement for the H&K MP5. Although the MP5 has a strong legacy, the platform no longer meets the current needs of its users. These needs include an updated manual of arms, better shooter ergonomics, the ability to accommodate mission-critical electro-optics, and most importantly, modularity.
